Wolf Pack Weekly, November 28-December 4

Nov 28, 2016

The Wolf Pack (6-10-3-0, 15 pts.) reached the quarter-pole of their season this past week, taking three out of a possible six points around the Thanksgiving holiday.  On Thanksgiving Eve Wednesday at the XL Center, the Wolf Pack got a goal and an assist each from defensemen Mat Bodie and Ryan Graves, but fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-2.  On “Black Friday” at home, the Pack took a 3-1 lead into the third period against Albany, with Adam Tambellini notching a goal and an assist, but Hartford was victimized by a Devil comeback in what would end as a 4-3 overtime loss.  The Wolf Pack grabbed the lead and held it, though, on Saturday night, as Magnus Hellberg 31 saves at division-leading Lehigh Valley in a 3-1 Pack win.

This week:  The Wolf Pack head across the Canadian border for the first time this weekend, visiting the Toronto Marlies for a pair of games.  The Wolf Pack and Marlies face off at 5:00 PM on Saturday at Ricoh Coliseum, and then again at 3:00 on Sunday.

Saturday, December 3 at the Toronto Marlies (Maple Leafs) at the Ricoh Coliseum, 5:00 PM

  • The Marlies, regular-season AHL champs last year, are 2-3-1-0 in their last six games, after losing just two in regulation in their first 11 (8-2-0-1).
  • Marlie third-year pro forward Brendan Leipsic comes into the week leading the AHL in points (22) and assists (16).
  • This is the first of four games on the year between the Wolf Pack and Marlies, who split a two-game series last season, with each winning on the other’s home ice.  In their only visit to Ricoh Coliseum last season, the Wolf Pack scored a 3-2 victory April 13.
