Jan 17, 2017The Wolf Pack (14-21-3-1, 32 pts., .410) reached the halfway point of their season this past week, winning two out of three road games. The week began with a 3-1 victory at Rochester on Wednesday night, keyed by two goals from Nicklas Jensen and a 31- save performance by Brandon Halverson. In the first of back-to-back games in St. John’s, Newfoundland Friday night, the Wolf Pack downed the IceCaps 2-1 in overtime, with Chris Brown netting the OT game-winner. St. John’s held the Wolf Pack off in the rematch Saturday night, though, prevailing 4-2. Jensen upped his team-leading goal total to 18 with a power-play strike in that game.

This week: The Wolf Pack start a stretch of six out of eight at home with a three-game weekend. Friday night the Toronto Marlies visit the XL Center for a 7:15 PM game, and the Rochester Americans come to the XL Center for the first time on the year Saturday night, with faceoff at 7:00. The weekend finishes with the Wolf Pack in Providence Sunday for a 5:05 start.
Friday, January 20 vs. the Toronto Marlies (Maple Leafs) at the XL Center, 7:15 PM
- The first 2,000 fans into this game will receive a Wolf Pack 20th anniversary poster, compliments of Bud Light. This night also begins “Hartford Hockey Heritage Weekend”, as the Wolf Pack celebrate and pay tribute to 20 years of AHL hockey in Hartford.
- This game will also feature a special appearance by 2000 Wolf Pack Calder Cup-champion defenseman Terry Virtue.
- The Calder Cup will be on display, as will an exhibition of historic Wolf Pack and Hartford Whaler jerseys, courtesy of MeiGray.
- At this and every Friday-night home game this season, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers through the start of the second period.
- This is the last of four games on the season between the Wolf Pack and the Marlies, and Toronto’s second visit to Hartford. The Wolf Pack won the first encounter, 3-2, December 3 in Toronto, but the Marlies have taken the last two, including a 5-3 verdict in the last meeting December 10 at the XL Center.
- The Marlies start six straight on the road with this game, after having lost three in a row and with a mark of 7-17-2-0 in their last 26 games, after an 8-2-0-1 start.
- Forward Tony Cameranesi, who was recalled by the Marlies from Orlando of the ECHL New Year’s Day, has three goals in Toronto’s last three games.

Saturday, January 21 vs. the Rochester Americans (Buffalo) at the XL Center, 7:00 PM
- “Hartford Hockey Heritage Weekend” continues at this game, as the first 2,000 fans receive a collectible Wolf Pack 20th anniversary pin.
- This night is another chance to see the Calder Cup, and MeiGray’s display of historic Wolf Pack and Hartford Whaler jerseys.
- Former UConn Husky Cole Schneider, the AHL’s third-leading scorer with 15-22-37 in 34 games, had the Americans’ only goal in Wednesday’s 3-1 home loss to the Wolf Pack.
- After Wednesday’s defeat vs. the Wolf Pack, Rochester lost 3-2 at home to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, before recovering to beat Toronto on the road, 3-2, on Saturday.
- This is the third of four meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and the Americans, and the first two have been in Rochester. Prior to the Wolf Pack’s 3-1 win Wednesday, they suffered a 5-2 loss in the first clash between the two clubs November 11.

Sunday, January 22 at the Providence Bruins (Boston) at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Providence, 5:05 PM
- The Bruins have lost two of their last three games, but still have only four regulation losses in 26 games (18-4-2-2) since November 18.
- This is the sixth of ten games on the year between the Wolf Pack and Bruins, and Hartford is 1-3-0-1 in the series thus far, 0-2-0-1 in three previous visits to Providence.
- Bruin goaltender Anton Khudobin, an 11th-year pro with 108 career games of NHL experience, shut the Wolf Pack out in the last meeting between the two teams, making 21 saves in a 3-0 Bruin victory January 8 in Providence.

Pack Tracks: On Saturday, January 28, when the Providence Bruins come to the XL Center for a 7:00 PM game, the first 2,000 fans into this game will receive the last of four sets of Wolf Pack 20th-anniversary trading cards that will be given away during this 2016-17 season, presented by KOTA. The set will be comprised of the players chosen as the top five all-time in franchise history. That is also “Stick it to Cancer” night, sponsored by Jefferson Radiology, with the Wolf Pack wearing special Stick it to Cancer jerseys, which will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefitting cancer charities.
Once again this season, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers at every Friday Wolf Pack home game, through the start of the second period. After this Friday, the next Friday-night home date is February 3, when the Pack host the Utica Comets at 7:15 PM.
Each of the Wolf Pack’s Sunday and Wednesday home games, as well as the one Tuesday home date, will feature the Wolf Pack’s “Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack”. The Family Value Pack includes two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for just $40. The next Family Value Pack game is Wednesday, January 25, when the Wolf Pack host the Hershey Bears in a 7:00 PM game.
At every Sunday Wolf Pack home game, the first 2,000 fans will receive a “hockey bingo” card. The spaces on these cards contain possibilities that might happen in the game, and if they do, fans can fill in the spaces to win Wolf Pack bingo prizes. The next Sunday Wolf Pack home date is February 19, a 5:00 PM game vs. the Springfield Thunderbirds.
