Wolf Pack Weekly, January 16-21
Jan 16, 2018The Wolf Pack (15-20-3-3, 36 pts., .439) played four games over the last six days, all on the road, and went 1-3-0-0 in the four contests. Marek Mazanec made an AHL career-high, and Wolf Pack season-high, 46 saves, and went 3-for-3 in the shootout, Wednesday night in Bridgeport, in a 2-1 shootout win. The Wolf Pack then headed up to the Great White North for a pair of games, and started the trek with a 4-2 loss at Laval on Friday. On Saturday night in Belleville, Hartford took a 2-1 lead in the third period against the Senators, but then fell victim to a three-goal Belleville flurry in the last 3:46, losing 4-2. Finally, in a holiday matinee Monday at Springfield, the Wolf Pack ended up on the short end of a 5-1 score against the Thunderbirds.

This week: The Wolf Pack start a stretch of four out of five games at home, with XL Center dates this Friday vs. the Utica Comets (7:15 PM) faceoff and Sunday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (5:00).
Friday, January 19 vs. the Utica Comets (Vancouver) at the XL Center, 7:15 PM
- At this game, and all Wolf Pack Friday-night home games, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers through the start of the second period, presented by Dave & Buster’s.
- The Comets were also the opponent for the Wolf Pack’s last home game, January 7, when Utica upended the Wolf Pack by a score of 5-1. The only other meeting between the two clubs this season was November 18, a 4-1 Wolf Pack victory in Utica.
- The Comets (18-14-4-3, 43 pts., .551) have won five of their last six games, and are 6-2-0-2 in their last ten, to move into fourth place in the North Division, four points ahead of Laval.
- Winger Reid Boucher scored a hat trick, and added an assist, in Utica’s 5-1 win over the Wolf Pack at the XL Center January 7, and has points in each of the five games he has played (4-5-9) since being returned to the Comets by the parent Vancouver Canucks.

- This is “Sonar Saves” Pet Adoption Night. Fans will have the chance to meet some of Sonar’s lovable little friends who are in need of good homes with caring families.

- The Penguins come into the week on a seven-game winning tear, which has boosted them to 23-10-2-1 for 49 points and a .681 points percentage, and back into the top spot in the Atlantic Division.
- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman Andrey Pedan earned CCM/AHL Player of the Week honors for last week, with 3-2-5 in two games. That included a hat trick in the Penguins’ 4-3 win in Laval Saturday.
- The Penguins have won two of the previous three games in this year’s season series with the Wolf Pack, but in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s only earlier visit to Hartford, December 15, the Wolf Pack were victorious by a score of 7-3.
