Global Spectrum, operators of the XL Center and Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced that the Wolf Pack will celebrate “Hartford Hockey Heritage Weekend” at its home games January 30 and 31 at the XL Center.
The Hartford Hockey Heritage festivities will include an exhibition of Hartford-oriented hockey memorabilia from the Hockey Hall of Fame. That showcase will take place Saturday, January 31, when the Wolf Pack host the Springfield Falcons at the XL Center, offering fans a chance to enjoy an extensive display of mementos from Hartford hockey greats like Ron Francis, Mark Howe and Ken Gernander.
The items exhibited will include jerseys, sticks, helmets, goaltenders’ masks and pads, signed pucks and more, from the World Hockey Association beginning of Hartford’s pro hockey history all the way through to the Wolf Pack era. In addition to the likes of Francis, Howe and Gernander, other prominent names represented include Bobby Hull, Sean Burke, Pat Verbeek, Derek Armstrong, Ryan Callahan and Jason LaBarbera, among others.
The AHL’s Calder Cup will also be on display throughout Hartford Hockey Heritage Weekend, at both the January 30 and 31 games, as will a collection of game-worn, Hartford-themed jerseys exhibited by the MeiGray Group. Fans can view jerseys worn by Whaler luminaries Gordie, Mark and Marty Howe, Larry Pleau and Rick Meagher, as well as a Peter Fiorentino jersey from the Wolf Pack’s inaugural season of 1997-98.
There will also be exciting promotional giveaways both nights of Hartford Hockey Heritage Weekend. On Friday, January 30, the first 3,000 fans will take home a Hartford Hockey poster, filled with both Wolf Pack and Whaler action photography, presented by Toasted. Then, on Saturday, January 31, the first 2,000 fans receive a Wolf Pack team trading card set, courtesy of Team Ferior. January 31 is also “Pink in the Rink Night”, in support of Komen Connecticut and the fight to eradicate breast cancer.
