BRETT BERARD NAMED WOLF PACK’S IOA/AMERICAN SPECIALTY AHL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER
Apr 11, 2024HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack is proud to announce that Brett Berard has been named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Hartford community during the 2023-24 season.
Berard participated in countless community events during the 2023-24 season, earning his status as a fan favorite in the Connecticut capital. The rookie forward attended numerous youth hockey practices in the Greater Hartford area, aiding coaches in drills and helping kids build their skills in the game we all love.
He also attended numerous schools, doing several activities. Berard read to students during ‘Read Across America’ week in March, visited classrooms and talked with kids about his journey to professional hockey, and helped deliver backpacks to deserving teachers in the Greater Hartford area for their students.
Among other community initiatives, Berard was part of a group of players who went to Connecticut Children’s Hospital in December to deliver toys to children following the club’s annual toy drive. He also stopped by the ‘Bread for Life’ soup kitchen in Southington, CT, in March to assist with lunch service.
Berard is now one of 32 finalists for the AHL’s 2023-24 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League later this month.
