Background:
The most lovable member of the Wolf Pack organization, mascot Sonar has become a fixture in the state of Connecticut, both at Wolf Pack games and at events throughout the area. Sonar got his name from the SONAR systems used in submarines, the Wolf Pack itself having been named for a term that refers to a group of submarines in attack formation, in honor of the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT and the State's long association with the U.S. Submarine Fleet.
Sonar, a spirited and cuddly 7-foot, 250-pounder, entered the world, along with the Wolf Pack, on October 4, 1997, and he established a true bond with Connecticut hockey fans immediately. Sonar can be found wheeling around the ice at the Hartford Civic Center, giving high-fives in the stands, making special visits to those fans who have taken advantage of the Pack's Birthday Party packages to celebrate their youngster's birthday at a game, as well as meeting and greeting the many families that spend Friday nights together at Wolf Pack Family Value Nights.
Sonar also enjoys marching proudly in community parades, entertaining kids in schools and hospitals, and spreading good will and excitement wherever the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation's numerous community projects take him. In addition to backing the Pack, Sonar's hobbies are reading, playing video games, drawing and playing sports with his friends.
