Wolf Pack Weekly: October 22 - 28, 2007
Monday, October 22, 2007 - 1:55 PM
The Wolf Pack split their first trip to Canada since 2003 over the
weekend, losing to defending Calder Cup-champion Hamilton by a score of
2-1 on Saturday night and rebounding to best Toronto, 4-3 in a shootout,
on Sunday. Greg Moore registered a goal and an assist in the two games,
and Miika Wiikman notched his first North-American pro win in Sunday's
game, in relief of Al Montoya.
This week:
After playing four of its first five games on the road, the Wolf Pack
now starts a stretch in which it plays four out of the next five
contests at home.
The Providence Bruins pay a visit to the Hartford
Civic Center on Wednesday night (7:00), and then the Springfield Falcons
invade the Civic Center on Guida's Family Value Night Friday (7:00).
The Wolf Pack wrap up the three-game week by traveling to Worcester on
Saturday (7:05).
Tuesday, October 23th - "Wolf Pack Confidential", at the M&M Restaurant
at the Hilton Hartford, on ESPN Radio 1410
This week's edition of the Wolf Pack's weekly Tuesday-night talk show,
hosted by Bob Crawford, features Wolf Pack head coach Ken Gernander and
assistant coach J.J. Daigneault as scheduled guests. The show airs live
from a new home, the M&M Restaurant at the Hilton Hartford, located at
315 Trumbull St. in downtown Hartford, from 7:00-8:00 PM. Fans are
welcome to be on hand at M&M for an exclusive opportunity to ask
questions and speak one-on-one with the guests. Wolf Pack Confidential
can be heard live on the radio home of the Wolf Pack, ESPN Radio 1410.
Wednesday, October 24th vs. Providence at the Hartford Civic Center,
7:00 p.m.
Providence is off to a 4-1-0-0 start, playing their first 10
games of the season on the road while the Dunkin' Donuts Center
Providence is being renovated. Head Coach Scott Gordon's club just
suffered its first loss of the season Sunday, a 5-3 defeat at Worcester.
Veteran Jeff Hoggan has been the Bruins' top gun thus far,
with 3-3-6 in the five games.
Last year's regular-season series saw the Wolf Pack go 6-4-0-0
against the Bruins, but they were only 2-3-0-0 at home. The Pack won
the last four games between the two clubs, after Providence had taken
four of the first six, but the Bruins ended the Pack's season in the
Atlantic Division Semifinals, beating the Pack in seven games.

Friday, October 26th vs. Springfield at the Hartford Civic Center, 7:00
p.m.
This is the first of 10 games in this year's battle between
the Wolf Pack and Falcons, the Pack's most familiar rival. The Pack
were 5-4-0-1 in the series against their cross-border rivals last
season, including 3-1-0-1 at home.
This is the Wolf Pack's first Guida's Family Value Night of
the season. Fans can purchase Family Value Night packages that include
tickets, hot dogs or pizza slices, sodas and a Wolf Pack souvenir and
start as low as $39 per family. To purchase your Family Value Night
pack, call the Wolf Pack ticket office at 860-548-2000.
After finishing last in the Atlantic Division last season as a
Tampa Bay affiliate (28-49-1-2, 59 pts.), Springfield has started its
first year of affiliation with the Edmonton Oilers 5-2-0-1 for 11 points
and sits atop the Atlantic.
Patrick Thoresen, last week's Rbk/AHL Player of the Week, is
the Falcons' top scorer with 5-4-9. That is good for a tie for second
in the AHL in goals.
The Wolf Pack Community Foundation will be auctioning off a
pink hockey stick during the second intermission, in the atrium of
Hartford 21, outside the box office. Proceeds from the auction will
benefit breast cancer research. The stick was autographed at New York
Ranger training camp, and features the signatures of such players as
Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Henrik Lundqvist, Michal Rozsival, Sean
Avery, Petr Prucha, Blair Betts, Ryan Hollweg and more.

five.
